Happy Birthday Lucas!

Happy 2nd Birthday to Lucas!  We are so happy we could share the fun day with you and thanks to the Derrickson's for inviting us!  We had a blast.

Today's party was based around an artistic theme - filled with finger painting, coloring, and shaving cream art.  The boys had their first "independent" finger painting experience today (I guided their hands to make a finger painted Christmas Tree in December, and when I tried again in February to make a heart, Logan freaked out by the feeling of the finger paint, so that was our last attempt) and I think they liked it!  Or at least I know Logan liked it.  Ellis was a bit skeptical at first, but then warmed up to it a little more.  And although it wasn't the original plan to take their clothes off to paint, I'm glad I did (and thanks again Sheila, for allowing us to use your bathtub afterwards!!)

Logan's first move was the blue paint in the mouth, but after cleaning that off, he dove right in to painting his paper.
Ellis (in the background) is a little more unsure of it..
It's okay Ellis, your painting looks marvelous!
Logan apparently LOVES the feeling of finger paint now...and loves the feeling of it on his body!
Ellis liked painting his legs too!
Logan, your leg doesn't belong in the paint...
Looks like he doesn't care...
He just couldn't get enough...
so he sat RIGHT in it!

So after a bit more playing, it was clean up time.  I don't know if they didn't like the fact that I took them away from the paint, or that I wouldn't hold them against my body because they were covered in paint, or because their bath tub was so much bigger than ours, but they were not fond of getting the quick bath despite loving bath time at home.  We figure the next time we try it, we will just have them take a dip in their little pool to clean off!  =)

We had a great time and it was good seeing all the little kids have so much fun with all the activities that Sheila planned.  We even left with a cute little bag of artistic goodies for the boys!

Thanks again for the fun time.  We can't wait for the summer to be here so we can hang out even more!  Happy Birthday Luke!
